New Bus Dock Renovation Nears Completion

As part of the improved traffic pattern at Pennwood, our bus dock will move from Roelofs Road to the opposite side of the building.  Below are pictures of the work near completion.  We anticipate using the new, relocated bus dock for the opening of school in 2017.

Renovation of Gym A Begins

Work in Gym A, formerly called the Girls' Gym, is well underway.  In the pictures below you can see the bleachers being upgraded.  You can also see where the walls of the locker rooms and bathrooms were removed to make way for updated facilities.

Auditorium: Next Step

In an earlier post, I shared a picture of the auditorium chairs being removed.  Below is a photo of the completed demolition of the chairs and flooring.  In the next photo, the ceiling removal begins.  We now have a clean slate to move forward!

Gym B Re-opens

Renovated Gym B (formerly called the Boys' Gym) re-opened last month.  The gym was repainted and new lighting was installed.  The area also has updated heating and, for the first time, cooling as well.  The attached locker room and lockers were also repainted.  There is updated lighting in the locker room as well.

New Wing: Almost There!

Our construction team has been hard at work finishing up the new wing.  We are looking to move students in at the beginning of May.  It is very exciting to get a sneak peek at what the renovated school will look like!

Chimney Removal

Last weekend, work began to remove the Pennwood chimney.  The smoke stack has long been a feature of the building.  Since it will no longer be needed with our new heating and cooling system, it is being removed.

Pictured above, work is just starting on the chimney.  The workers remove each level
of brick and push it inside the chimney.  Once the brick inside the chimney is level with
the outside of the chimney, the remaining structure will be taken away.

Auditorium Work Begins

The wooden seats in the Pennwood Auditorium, original to the building, are removed.  For those of you who have visited the auditorium, you know that many were not functioning.  65 years later, we are happy to take this first step toward a state-of-the-art auditorium!
